Wildlife photo gallery.
In this gallery you will find images taken in Sabah, a Malaysian State at the Nothern tip of Borneo.
My wife and I fell in love with Sabah from our first visit and I hope this small selection of photographs from our trips will whet your appetite and encourage you to make the journey to the "land below the wind".
Mount Kinabalu dominates the landscape which varies from white sandy beaches and world renowned dive sites to magnificent rainforests and swampy mangrove wetlands. The huge diversity of habitat means that the adventurous traveller can experience an amazing range of plants and animals, many of which are unique.
Highlights include Orangutan, a close relative of humans under increasing threat from oil palm plantations and logging, or the unique proboscis monkey found congregating in trees along the tributaries of the Kinabatangan river in the late afternoon along with the bold and fearless macaque.
The spectacle of watching turtles laying eggs under a starlit sky and exploring limestone caves where edible birds nests are collected or white water rafting down the Padas river will live with us forever as will the swealtering heat under the jungle canopy tempered by the thought of a Singapore Sling whilst watching a lightning storm far out to sea in the comfort of a luxury hotel.
